“This term would run for the remainder of Ms. Liu’s term which goes into Dec. 31,” Treece said. “This is a great opportunity if you are someone who has been interested in being on a school board and not sure this is something you want to commit to.

“This is a short way to try it out.”

Applicants from Hopewell Township must submit a letter of interest and also a personal resume by July 22 at 4 p.m. to Robert Colavita, assistant superintendent and business administrator. They must also be available to interview the evening of July 31 in the Administration building at 425 South Main St. in Pennington.

“It is a large commitment,” Treece said. “Our board members do have a lot of requirements of them in keeping up with how schools work and reading through all our committee notes and running committees and attending committees, but this is great way for you to dip a toe in it if you ever thought about doing it.

“We really encourage you to consider joining us.”

Interested Hopewell Township residents must meet qualifications of being 18 years or older, a resident of the township for at least one year prior to the date of the appointment, able to read and write, not directly or indirectly involved in a contract or claim against the district, and not disqualified as a voter.
