East Windsor Township man charged with leaving scene after crash

A 29-year-old East Windsor Township man who was involved in a one-car crash on Dutch Neck Road is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence and destruction of agriculture, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

Police responded to the area of Dutch Neck Road and McKinley Court to investigate a reported one-car crash at 9:21 p.m. Aug. 8. The officer found a vehicle that had struck a utility pole.

The driver fled the scene but was located a short time later, police said. He allegedly showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.

In addition to the charge of driving under the influence, he was charged with careless driving, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and refusal to submit to a breath test, police said.

He was also charged with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain lane and failure to exhibit documents.

He was processed and released.
