In an effort to help reduce food insecurity in Somerset County, residents can now drop-off canned food and non-perishable items at the free Operation Secure Shred event on Sept. 21. Donations will be distributed to local food banks to help the county’s new Curbing Hunger initiative.

The shredding event takes place at the Somerset County Public Works Garage, South County Facility, at 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the trucks are filled. The event will occur rain or shine.
