The police departments in Bordentown Township and Bordentown City are partnering for a joint National Night Out.

Due to the thunderstorms that rolled in on Aug. 6, police had announced the rescheduling of the event to Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Joseph Lawrence Park from 6-9 p.m.

“Join us next week for a family-friendly event featuring community building activities such as police officer meet and greets, tours of emergency vehicles, a ‘Cops vs. Kids’ kickball game, Cornhole with Cops, a game truck, laser tag, refreshments, a DJ, inflatables, K-9 demonstrations, face painting, music, safety information booths, and so much more!” police said in a post on the Bordentown Township Facebook page.

Since 1984, National Night Out has been held on the first Tuesday in August. It is intended to forge a bond between local police and the residents they serve.

On Aug. 1, police warned of a scam regarding National Night Out. The police department had been made aware of a scammer attempting to solicit funds on the township’s National Night Out event page.

“We would like to clarify that this is a free event, however table registration for this year’s event is currently closed and any inquiries regarding the event can be made to Lt. [Frank] Nucera at fnucera3@bordentowntownshippd.org or (609) 298-4300 ext. 2134.”
