With the news that one of their own has been impacted by breast cancer, the Lawrence Township Police Department is doing “just a little bit extra” as they support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

They are expanding its No Shave November to include October.

“If you see some of our officers sporting new whiskers that means they have donated their own money towards our fundraising goal,” the department stated in a social media post. “Our female officers are joining in too…donning brightly colored nail polish. Keep an eye out for them.”

The department initially offered to help raise money for their member’s family, but she humbly insisted that any proceeds go to the V Foundation. They were not surprised.

The V Foundation for Cancer Research, founded by ESPN and renowned basketball coach Jim Valvano, has a singular mission: to achieve Victory Over Cancer. Since its inception in 1993, the V Foundation has allocated over $353 million in grants for cancer research across the nation, according to the post.

You can get involved too and help make a difference. Wear pink! Also in November, a Friendsgiving Dinner, curated by Chef Zack from Toscano Ristorante & Steakhouse of Bordentown will be held at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm in Jobstown.

The evening out amongst friends and family will offer a fall festive, farm to table dining experience with live music from “The Crescendo” featuring Marlaina. One hundred percent of all proceeds, including that which are raised from a Silent Auction, will be donated to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

In November, the department will continue supporting the Detective Mark Harmon Memorial Foundation. More details will follow.
