Pennington Council approved the purchase of additional remote water read meters as the borough continues converting from manual read meters.
The governing body greenlighted the remote read meter purchases from Rio Supply, Inc. in Sicklerville earlier this month on Aug. 5.
Rick Smith, Pennington’s superintendent of public works, said in a late July Borough Council work session that the borough is about at the 50-yard line in converting over to remote read meters and that the remote read meters “absolutely” have been making a big difference.
“Over time, my vision is to one day run the garbage truck route and read meters at the same time,” he added.
The borough has the funds in the 2024 Water and Sewer budget to cover the $18,357 for the additional remote read meters.
